About This Site
What this is
An independent reference resource that aggregates and cross-references official US business classification systems — NAICS 2022, NAICS 2017, SIC 1987, and SBA Size Standards — from government-published sources.

Data sources
- Census Bureau — NAICS 2022 & 2017 codes, concordance, official descriptions
- SEC.gov — SIC 1987 code list
- SBA.gov — Size Standards table (effective March 17, 2023)
Full list: Sources page
Methodology
NAICS codes are imported from the official Census Bureau Excel tables. SBA size standards are matched to NAICS codes using the SBA's March 2023 table. Footnotes and receipts-based standards are included where the source document provides them.
SIC codes come from the official SEC SIC code list. SIC-to-NAICS mapping is heuristic — title word-overlap scoring combined with manually verified known crosswalks. This is not a Census-published concordance and should be verified for compliance-critical use.
NAICS 2022-to-2017 concordance uses the Census Bureau's official crosswalk file.
Limitations
- SIC-to-NAICS matches are computed, not official — verify against source documents
- Some NAICS 2022 codes may not have SBA standards in the starter data
- This resource does not provide legal, compliance, or business advice
- Data reflects the source document as of its publication date — newer revisions may exist
Updates
Data last refreshed from source documents in March 2023 (SBA) and NAICS 2022 publication cycle. When the Census Bureau releases NAICS 2027, this resource will be updated to include the new codes.
